Regulation and distribution of the Caleffi brand in the Aquatic Centres at the Olympic Green

The construction sites for Beijing 2008 are coming along quickly, amidst controversies of various kinds, and now nearly all the structures have been completed and inaugurated. In this highly competitive context, Caleffi has succeeded in taking part in the plant engineering projects for the Water Cube and the Yingdong aquatic centre, using about eighty distribution manifolds and temperature regulating units for the athletes’ changing rooms.

• The ecologically correct Olympic Village

On 6 March 2008 the Olympic Village was opened to the Press; it has been designed and built according to modern criteria of environmental sustainability:

• solar panels made in Italy for air conditioning
• state-of-the-art water collection systems against wastage
• more than 40% of the surface assigned to green areas (66 hectares of land occupied by the Village)

 
Immediately to the south of the Village stand the two new architectural wonders of Olympic Beijing, the stadium nicknamed the Bird's Nest on account of its complex structure made of steel wires and the Water Cube, the swimming centre that looks like a huge drop of water. The Village, on which construction work is almost completed, will be opened on 27 July and closed on 28 August, to open again two days later, on 30 August, when the participants in the Paralympics will start to arrive.
 
Once the games are over, the Village will be entrusted to a private company which will deal with its commercialisation. The area in which it is located – the so-called Olympic Green which comprises the stadium, the swimming pools and the Forest Park – is destined to become one of the new luxury districts in the capital.
